The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt has expressed happiness at the historic win of the party in the Gujarat Assembly elections and expressed satisfaction at the rise in vote share in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. He said that the Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara’s statement that the Congress’ victory in Himachal Pradesh is a win for the State of educated people, is an insult to the people of Uttarakhand and Gujarat. Strongly condemning this statement, Bhatt said that the PCC president should apologise publicly for this statement, he said.
Reacting to the Gujarat Assembly polls results, Bhatt thanked the people for placing their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for three decades. He opined that the party had achieved a moral victory as the people had expressed more faith in the party in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls and MCD elections. He appreciated all the party office bearers and workers for the efforts to change the electoral tradition in Himachal Pradesh.
Bhatt said that the BJP accepts the decision of the voters of Himachal Pradesh but terming it the victory of an educated State as said by Mahara is akin to terming the people of Gujarat and Uttarakhand illiterate or less educated as the Congress had been defeated resoundingly in these States. The BJP State president also termed the statement of the PCC president laughable in which Mahara had opined that the BJP had made its regional leaders scapegoats to show the EVMs as proper by losing in the Himachal Pradesh elections. This statement also means that the electoral win of the Congress is not genuine, added the BJP State president.
