Research, value addition needed in Ayurveda: Governor

First convocation of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University organised

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh presented degrees to the students in the first convocation ceremony of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that there is a need for constant research in the field of Ayurveda and quality and value addition are needed to be done with time in it.  Congratulating the students, the governor said that they should bring the knowledge they have received during their studies into their habit. Terming Uttarakhand as the land where Ayurveda originated, Singh said that many rare herbs are present in the State and it is our responsibility that we should continue to provide lead in the field and take Ayurveda to the whole world.

The governor said that Ayurveda is the need of the hour and can bring a major change in our economy with its help. He said that Uttarakhand should be made an Ayurvedic destination in wellness and rich spiritual lifestyle.

He said that everyone has witnessed the importance of Ayurveda during the pandemic period. In the ceremony the governor conferred degrees to 1698 students and handed over gold medals to 112 meritorious students. He also released the annual progress report ‘ Brahmkamal’ on the occasion. Former chief minister and union cabinet minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘ Nishank’, vice chancellor of Patanjali university Acharya Balkrishna and secretary Ayush, Pankaj Kumar Pandey also addressed the students .

 The VC of Ayurveda University Sunil Kumar Joshi presented an account of the activities and achievements of the University.
