Haridwar Police seize, destroys illegal Chinese Manza

In an action against the sellers of dangerous Chinese Manza (synthetic threads used for flying kites), the Haridwar Police on Wednesday confiscated and destroyed 30 rolls of the Manza. A team comprising the Haridwar City Police Station Inspector Bhavna Kainthola and Kharkhadi outpost in-charge Khemendra Gangwar raided the shops selling illegal Chinese Manza on late Tuesday night. The team destroyed the Manza rolls by consigning them to flames on Wednesday. A penalty of Rs 10,000 each was also imposed on three shopkeepers selling the Manza. The Police action has created a stir among the shopkeepers.
It is worth mentioning here that the Incidents of pedestrians getting injured by Chinese Manza come are reported every year during the kite flying season. Many birds also die every year after getting entangled in this Manza. This year also the sale of this nylon thread has started and many organisations have been demanding action on the shopkeepers selling this thread.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haridwar Ajay Singh had given instructions for action against those selling this illegal thread. On his orders, the Police teams searched the shops selling the thread and destroyed its rolls.
