CM inaugurates Khatima & Gadarpur bypasses

The bypasses will decongest traffic in Khatima & Gadarpur, reduce travel distances:Gadkari

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated 26 projects worth Rs 306 crore at Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district on Thursday. These projects include the newly constructed Gadarpur bypass and Khatima bypass. The Union Road Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari attended the programme and addressed the programme via video conferencing. The four lane Gadarpur bypass is 8.8 kilometres long and is constructed at a cost of Rs 170 crore while the 8.2 kilometres Khatima bypass is two lane with paved shoulder and is constructed at a cost of Rs 95 crore.

 Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that with the inauguration of these bypasses, the long standing demand of the people of Khatima and Gadarpur have been fulfilled. He said that both these cities would now become free from the problem of traffic jams. He announced that soon work on a four lane road from  Tanakpur to Sitarganj and from Pilibhit to Khatima would commence and this road is an important centre for the proposed new route to Kailash Mansarovor Yatra. Dhami said that the governments of India and Nepal are jointly constructing roads to connect the two countries which would further strengthen the age- old relations between the two countries. He said that the priority of the State government is that the maximum benefit of the Bharatmala project of the government of India is received by the State. He said that All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is coming up at Kichha in Udham Singh Nagar and the State government is working on ‘one district two products’ scheme. He said that since India is presiding over this year’s G 20 summit this is a good opportunity to promote the ‘local for global’ project and important meetings of the G 20 are proposed to be held in Uttarakhand also. The CM expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the decision of the government of India to purchase the Mandua at minimum support price (MSP).

 In his video message the Union minister Nitin Gadkari said that the pre-election promise of construction of bypasses has been fulfilled. He said that apart from decongesting traffic in the Khatima and Gadarpur cities, the bypasses would reduce the travel distances between Rudrapur- Tanakpur and Rudrapur to Kashipur. He assured every possible help from his ministry in the development of Uttarakhand.

 Speaking on the occasion the Union minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt said that every government order is getting fulfilled and under the leadership of Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand is witnessing an all round development. He said that Uttarakhand would achieve new heights in development in the next ten years. MLAs Gopal Singh Rana, Shiv Arora, Suresh Gadia and others were present on the occasion.
