Govt sets up SIT in Patwari paper leak case

Jolted by another recruitment examination leak case in the State, the Uttarakhand police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate irregularities in the Lekhpal-Patwari examination of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) on the orders of the State Government. The additional director general (ADG) of police, Law and Order, V Murugesan told The Pioneer that senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Haridwar, Ajai Singh will head the SIT which will investigate all aspects of the case. The Uttarakhand State Task Force (STF) arrested five accused on Thursday including UKPSC section officer Sanjeev Chaturvedi and his wife Ritu for leaking Patwari examination paper to at least 35 aspirants. The STF has also recovered over Rs 41 lakh cash from all accused so far. The STF had registered a case in Kankhal police station of Haridwar on Thursday under Section 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120B and 3/4 of the Uttar Pradesh / Uttarakhand Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Prevention Act 1998. Murugesan said that the police teams have been working diligently on the case and SIT too would unveil all malpractices done by those involved in the paper leak.
