Maximum temperatures to be upto 10 degrees Celsius above normal in 8 districts
In what may be seen as an alarming sign of climate change in Uttarakhand, the State meteorological centre has issued a warning regarding the likelihood of the maximum temperatures remaining upto 10 degrees Celsius above normal in eight districts of the State for upto five days from Friday. Further, the diurnal variation in temperature is likely to remain 18 degrees Celsius or more at a few places in the plains/valleys of the State during the next four to five days.
The State meteorological centre forecast on Thursday that the maximum temperature is likely to remain above normal by eight to 10 degrees Celsius in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Almora, Nainital, Champawat, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts during the next four to five days. The meteorological center also issued an alert regarding the possibiltyi of the maximum temperature likely to reach above normal by 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand during the next four days.
The provisional State capital derhadun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius to 11 degrees Celsius respectively on Friday.
Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Thursday were 27.4 degrees Celsius and 10.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 27.2 degrees Celsius and 7.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.7 degrees Celsius and 5.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 19 degrees Celsius and 7.8 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
