In his Mann Ki Baat programme on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the work of visually impaired folk singer Puran Singh Rathore of Reema village of Dug Nakuri Tehsil in Bageshwar district. Apart from motivating the singer, local public representatives and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the reference to Rathore has also been welcomed by the local residents.
PM Modi commended the efforts of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar recipient Rathore who has worked in the field of promoting folk music and culture of the State. There is a wave of happiness in Dug Nakuri Tehsil and in the district following the PM’s reference to Rathore. Kapkot MLA Suresh Gariya said that the Prime Minister’s attention to even the remotest of villages in the country was exemplified by him talking about Rathore and his art in the Mann Ki Baat programme. This boosts the confidence of artistes, youth and people doing good work in their respective fields, said the MLA.
