“Naatu Naatu” makes Oscar history, wins Best Original Song Award
“The Elephant Whisperers” wins for Best Docu Short category

India stunned the world by winning two awards at the 95th Academy Awards giving ceremony. The Telegu blockbuster film “RRR”s song “Naatu Naatu” won in the category of the Best Original Song. It is the first Indian track to win the Academy Award. Earlier, “Naatu Naatu” won international recognition twice. The song was composed by MM Keeravaani and penned by Chandrabose.
Mention worthy, “Jai Ho” from the 2008 film “Slumdog Millionaire was the first Hindi song to win an Academy Award in the Best Original Song category. The film was directed by Danny Boyle, composed by AR Rahman and written by Gulzar. “Naatu Naatu” singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kala Bhairava performed the song at the Oscars ceremony and were given standing ovation.
In another sterling achievement for India the same day, “The Elephant Whisperers”-the documentary short by Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga- has won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short category at the 95th Academy Awards.
