One Killed, two injured

One person was killed and two others were seriously injured as boulders/ debris fell on them on Gangotri highway. Those injured were rushed to hospital. It is learnt that on late Friday night the landslide happened between Old Dharasu and Dharasu Bend on Gantotri highway. At that time road cutting work was going on with poclain machines and the debris were being loaded in a dumper. Suddenly, the debris/boulders fell on the dumper driver Mahesh Negi (42) who was from a village in Harshil and a contractor Sanjay Chowdhury (44) from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, the site in-charge Sikandar (28) from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, fell into the gorge below the road as stones fell on him. SDRF team rushed to the spot. Two persons were pulled out the debris and the site in-charge who fell into gorge was rescued. They were sent to community health centre Chinyalisaur where the site in-charge was declared brought dead. The other two are undergoing treatment there.
