Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) will maintain data on the top 50 criminals of the State and monitor the developments related to them. The director general of police Ashok Kumar said this in a review meeting of STF’s work on the weekend attended by the additional director general of Police (Law and Order) V Murugesan and senior superintendent of police of STF Ayush Agrawal.

He said that the data is currently being maintained by the district police units but now it will be done by the STF as well as it will help the authorities in curbing the activities of these criminals and arrest them. He said that the cyber cell unit of STF has also recently trained 100 police personnel ranging from constables to circle officers in tackling cyber crimes which have increased considerably in recent years. “The training was given in four phases. Such pieces of training will help in strengthening the district cyber cell units in the State and solve the cases of cyber crime with more efficiency. We will also felicitate the best cyber cop of the month for cracking difficult and unique cyber crimes,” said the DGP.

He said that a policeman will be awarded the ‘Cyber Commando of the Month’ award every month for their outstanding work at the district and State levels. The DGP also later felicitated those STF officials who cracked difficult cyber crimes and nabbed the criminals this year.
