Seminar held on role of women in dairy cooperatives

The Nainital Dugdh Utpadak Sahakari Sangh (NDUSS) organised a seminar on the rights and responsibilities of women in the dairy cooperatives. Discussions were also held on how to maximise the participation and contribution of women in this field in the event held in the Dhari development block.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Nainital district Panchayat chairperson Bela Tolia appreciated the work being done by women of the district in dairy cooperatives. She said that more women should adopt dairies through the cooperative sector as a means of self employment. Dhari Block Pramukh Asha Rani spoke about the contribution of women in the dairy sector in the mountainous regions. Chairing the event, Uttarakhand Dairy Cooperative Federation Limited chairman Mukesh Bora informed the gathering about various programmes being undertaken for the welfare of women dairy producer members. He also appreciated the contribution of women in the Nainital Dugdh Sangh.
General manager of NDUSS, Nirbhay Narayan Singh also spoke in detail about uplift programmes for women being undertaken through the Dairy Development department in the field of dairy cooperatives.
Three women members were also felicitated for dairy production at the district and State levels on the occasion. At the district level Himani Bisht received Rs 10,000 as first prize followed by Rs 7,000 to Deepa Bisht and Rs 5,000 to Pushpa Bisht. At the State level, Himani Bisht received Rs 25,000 as first prize followed by Rs 10,000 to Deepa Bisht.
