Mock drill held to check preparedness for Covid pandemic

 To check the preparedness of the health machinery of the State for the Covid-19 pandemic, a mock drill was organised in the hospitals of the State on Monday. The drill was part of the country wide exercise ordered by the Union government. The State Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat went to the community health centre (CHC) Vikasnagar to check the preparedness of the hospital during the mock drill.

The cases of the Covid-19 are continuing to increase in the State in recent days. The State health department has come into an alert mode and has maintained that the guidelines of the union government on Covid -19 would be implemented in the State. 

The minister averred that the situation of Covid-19 is under control in Uttarakhand and that the State government is ready to meet any emergency situation in this front. He said that 26 per cent of the population in the State is administered with the precaution dose while 100 per cent of the population above 12 years of age has been administered with two doses of vaccine. The RTPCR testing facility is available in 11 centres in the government sector and their average capacity is testing 13,000 to 15,000 samples per day. The facility of genome sequencing is available in the government medical colleges of Dehradun, Haldwani and Almora. The State has 7,703 oxygen supported beds, 852 ICU and 1,165 ventilators.
