Doon to get hotter, thunderstorm & hail warning issued for five districts

Gusty winds likely in Dehradun and three other districts today

The mercury level in the provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to climb a notch to 38 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. On the other hand, thunderstorms with hail and lightning are likely in parts of five districts today.

The meteorological centre has issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/hail likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and remaining districts of Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Further, gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Pauri and Haridwar districts of Uttarakhand.

The meteorological centre has further forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the remaining districts of Garhwal region and at isolated places in the remaining districts of Kumaon region. 

Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies. Light rainfall /thunder cloud development accompanied with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is likely to occur in some areas towards the evening/night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 38 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively today.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 37.2 degrees Celsius and 19.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 39 degrees Celsius and 16.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 26.8 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.6 degrees Celsius and 14.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
