CM directs officials to expedite work in disaster affected Sarkhet area

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the disaster affected area at Sarkhet in Maldevta on the outskirts of Dehradun to inspect the ongoing relief works. The CM directed officials to expedite the execution of works in order to bring the situation back to normal. The government will make all possible effort for development of the area, he said.

Dhami also presented relief amount cheques to members of 13 disaster affected families of Bhainswada and Chamrauli. All the families received the first installment of Rs three lakh each. The CM also announced on the occasion that the remaining four kilometres of the Kyara Dhanaulti motor road will be constructed soon. Further, a proposal will be set under the Central Road Fund for construction of the Lalpulas-Sila-Moldhar-Suwakholi motor road, Dhami announced.

The CM averred that consistent efforts are being made to compensate for the damage caused in this area. He said that the district administration had done commendable rescue and relief works when the disaster struck the area during August last year. The helicopter pilot had also risked his safety to rescue the people. The CM said that the cooperation of the public is very important for the government. All citizens will have to come forward in some way or the other during a disaster scenario, he added.

Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, district Panchayat vice president Deepak Pundir, district magistrate Sonika and Sarkhet Pradhan Neelam Kotwal among others were also present during the chief minister’s inspection.
