Samarpan Diwas was celebrated on the occasion of the birth anniversary of educationist Mahatma Hansraj at Jagjeetpur in Haridwar. The event was organised by Arya Pradhikari Pratinidhi Sabha and DAV management committee at DAV Centenary Public School, Jagjitpur. According to the event organisers, about 10,000 people including students, their parents and invited guests attended the programme organised in the school to mark the occasion. Padma Shri recipient Poonam Suri, regional directors and principals of more than 948 DAV educational institutions from different States were also present at the event. Suri said on the occasion that only the light of the knowledge of Vedas will make India a Vishwaguru and DAV’s aim is to take Swami Dayanand’s thoughts to every house in the country. DAV is doing the work of providing education and education about culture and rituals. The organisation carries forward Vedic values along with DAV values and religion should not be a restriction on the method, said Suri. He added that the country cannot prosper as it did in the ancient times if youths are not educated on Vedas and principles of Arya Samaj. Various cultural programmes were also presented by students on the occasion.
