Maharaj launches schemes worth Rs 24.78 crore for Nainital

The State’s Tourism, Culture and Public Works minister Satpal Maharaj inaugurated and unveiled the foundation stones for various schemes worth Rs 24.78 crore here on Monday. He said that the completion of these schemes will ensure the all round development of this region in Kumaon.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the minister said that the Central government has approved a sum of Rs 242 crore for strengthening the Panchayati Raj department in Uttarakhand. The works which are slated to be undertaken with this fund will strengthen the Panchayats in Uttarakhand which in turn will strengthen Uttarakhand. He said that currently the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is underway smoothly. Snowfall is currently being experienced in the higher reaches, he said, while adding that pilgrims will be informed as soon as the snowfall abates. He also appealed to the pilgrims to check the weather forecast before starting the pilgrimage.
MLAs Banshidhar Bhagat, Sarita Arya, Ramsingh Kaida, Nainital district magistrate Dhiraaj Singh Garbyal, senior superintendent of police Pankaj Bhatt along with various public representatives and officials were also present on the occasion.
