Use latest technology, prepare to tackle natural challenges: Maharaj

The State’s Irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj has asked the department’s engineers to use the latest technology while also preparing to tackle the challenges posed by natural factors. The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the first general convention of the Uttarakhand Irrigation Engineers Association here on Sunday.
Maharaj assured them that the government will not only listen to their problems but also make all possible efforts to resolve the issues. He stressed on the need for enhancing the quality of development works while also developing a positive work culture in the department. The office bearers of the Uttarakhand Irrigation Engineers Association submitted a memorandum containing their demands to the minister on the occasion. Their demands include implementation of relaxation in service again, not reducing posts in the departmental structure, issuance of a government order for declaring Irrigation department the executing agency of the Tourism department, appointing assistant engineers through direct recruitment every year, reinstating the earlier proportion of direct recruitment and promotion and swift action for redressal of disputes regarding seniority in the Irrigation department.
The Irrigation secretary HC Semwal, Uttarakhand Irrigation Engineers Association president Harsh Kumar Katiyar and senior engineers of the department were also present on the occasion.
