Governor visits various shrines with family in Almora

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh along with his family paid obeisance at the Chitai Goljyu temple, Jageshwar temple and Kasar Devi temple in Almora district on Saturday. He prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Uttarakhand.
The governor said that the ancient and important temples in the Kumaon which will be enhanced under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala mission will be visited by a greater number of people from India and abroad. This will develop a different identity of the region for religious tourism. Referring to spiritual faith, natural and adventure tourism, Singh said that considering these aspects the government is developing basic infrastructure and road networks to enhance tourism. Roads, tunnels and ropeways are being constructed considering the tourism potential of the State, he said.
Earlier, the governor met the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police and other senior officials to discuss development of the district and various development works.
