Haridwar police made a public announcement in western Uttar Pradesh outside the homes of two absconding accused in the recruitment examination paper leak case of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC).

The accused named Anil Kumar and Bhushan are absconding and the court has also issued a warrant against them, said the senior superintendent of police of Haridwar Ajai Singh. He said that on continued disobedience of the warrants issued for both accused by the court, the police went to the house of the accused in UP on Friday and made noise with dhols and nagadas for the announcement regarding the matter. The police also put up a notice of attachment of property under section 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code as per the court orders, added the SSP. He said that the names of both accused were revealed in the investigation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Haridwar police investigating Assistant and Junior Engineers (AE/JE) and Lekhpal-Patwari recruitment examination paper leak cases. He said that the team filed a chargesheet against 96 accused in the AE/JE paper leak case last month on the basis of concrete evidence gathered since January.

The SIT has also filed a chargesheet against 60 accused in the Lekhpal-Patwari cheating case in April that includes 40 candidates who allegedly bought examination papers to clear the examination. He claimed that many accused of the AE/JE paper leak case are also allegedly involved in the Lekhpal-Patwari examination paper leak case and SIT is working to bring all culprits to justice.
