Doon police act against 43 men drinking liquor in public places

The Dehradun police took action against 40 men for drinking liquor in public places in the wee hours of Sunday. The officials said that the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar has directed all police station in-charges to take action under Operation Maryada against those who raise ruckus in public places after getting drunk during the night. Following the orders, three police teams were formed that started the checking campaign outside liquor shops in Ring Road, Chuna Bhatta and Raipur Road late on Saturday night.
The police arrested eight men on charges of drinking alcohol in a public place and hooliganism, as per the officials. Besides this, the police also acted against 32 men under the Police Act and collected a challan of Rs 8,500. Meanwhile, the police also acted against three men- Sumit Kumar, Praveen Kumar and Mohit Hudda, all natives of Haryana, under the Police Act for consuming liquor in religious and tourist places in Rishikesh. The police also put charges of hooliganism and seized their vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act, as per the officials.
