The beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)- Urban shared how their life turned around after getting pucca houses under this scheme on its eighth anniversary on Sunday. The in-charge of PMAY- Urban in Dehradun Ramesh Singh Chauhan said that PMAY was launched on June 25, 2015 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to address housing shortage in urban areas among the people in need including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house to all eligible urban households.
He said that to mark the occasion, the PMAY team of Dehradun visited the beneficiaries and gifted them a plant that they planted in their houses. He said that the team also discussed the issues, expectations of beneficiaries from the scheme and how it changed their lives. He said that the team also carried out the work of geo tagging in houses of over 500 beneficiaries as part of the scheme which is done to track the progress of the construction of individual houses under the scheme, added Chauhan.
