Taking strong exception to the CBI delivering summons to the former Chief Minister Harish Rawat on a public holiday, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the central agency is acting like a puppet in the hands of the Modi government. He said that the Congress party always respects the Indian judicial system and constitutional bodies and it has full faith in Judiciary but the manner in which the central agencies such as CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are harassing the leaders of opposition parties from the last nine years cannot be justified.
The PCC president said that everyone knows the conspiracy hatched in the year 2016 to destabilise the elected government of Congress party by using horse trading of the MLAs. He said that the court’s action to reinstate the Congress government and abolition of the President’s rule in the State was a tight slap on the face of the Modi government.
Mahara said that the issue has been taken out of the cold in view of the Lok Sabha elections of 2024.
