The Uttarakhand unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the rising inflation is currently the main concern of the public and the State government should work to deal with it instead of giving its all attention to the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
The party’s spokesman of the Garhwal division, Ravindra Anand said that prices of basic ingredients to prepare meals like vegetables, pulses, and oil are skyrocketing and the life of a common man has become quite difficult in this inflation. He said, “The people from lower middle class and middle class are barely surviving this inflation in the State. Despite this, the government here continues to give its undivided attention to the implementation of UCC rather than focusing on controlling the rising inflation.” He claimed that the matter of UCC is a concern of the central government and the State government here is focusing unnecessarily on its implementation which is not fair. He said that when the government should actually work for public welfare, the ministers are unnecessarily giving their time and resources to a concern that is not a priority at the moment.
It appears that the government is focusing on UCC to divert the mind of people from rising inflation and other failures of the government, claimed Anand. He said that if the government continues to ignore such sensitive issues, it will severely affect their respective party in the upcoming elections.
