Four killed as vehicles get buried under landslide-induced debris on Gangotri NH

In latest Uttarakhand news, heavy rain still wreaking havoc across Uttarakhand, at least four people were killed as two vehicles, including a tempo travellor, they were travelling in got buried under debris following landslides near Gangnani on the Gangotri National Highway. It is learnt that one woman was killed on the spot while six people, including a woman, sustained severe injuries. Four persons, found trapped inside the car, died. Three bodies were retrieved while efforts were on to pull out the last body. As per information received, teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Border Road Organisation (BRO) rushed to the accident site on receiving the news. They launched rescue operation in the night hours. The rescue personnel faced difficulty with the boulders continuously rolling down the hills. It took them a long time to retrieve three bodies from the vehicles. It is also learnt that the sub-divisional magistrate and the State disaster management officers have reached the spot.
