As weather improves, Haridwar sees sudden surge in number of Dak Kanwadiyas

In latest Uttarakhand news, Haridwar district police top brass claimed that despite the unexpected surge in the number of Dak Kanwadiyas in the span of 12 hours, they have succeeded in normalising the traffic movement on the highway. Just two days left for the Jalabhishek ritual to end and a bit let-up in the rainfall, the Kanwadiyas converged in the holy city on 55,000 Dak Kanwad vehicles and over eight lakh motorbikes. Given the gravity of the situation, the district SSP Ajay Singh himself was seen controlling the swelling number of Dak vehicles and motorbikes assisted by his team. It is learnt that the traffic flow became near normal by late night. Notably, the Kanwadiyas are still thronging the holy city in their lakhs.
