Planting saplings is a commendable initiative but to nurture them to ensure they grow into healthy trees is a must for a successful plantation drive, said the Dehradun municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal on the occasion of Harela on Monday. He along with other municipal officials planted saplings on the premises of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD). He said that taking care of a sapling after planting it is also an important task which should not be ignored.
The saplings need proper care to become strong and healthy trees in the upcoming years which is the ultimate purpose of planting saplings. He gave the responsibility to monitor the growth and progress of these saplings to deputy municipal commissioner Rohitash Sharma.
Goyal said that he will also monitor the growth of these saplings. He also appealed to all people to take proper care of saplings till they become healthy grown trees.
