In latest Uttarakhand news, with the rain-triggered landslide spree continuing in Uttarakhand, a restaurant and a six-room resort, situated at Barasu on the Kedarnath highway, were washed away No life was lost as the resort and the restaurant were evacuated a little before the landslides struck. It is learnt that the resort and the restaurant came up before the Kedarnath pilgrimage started. Speaking of the matter, the resort owner Avtar Singh said that with torrential rain continuing to pound the area, the lower security wall of the resort got damaged. “Seeing continuous land erosion in the drain flowing beneath, we evacuated it before the massive landslide struck, washing away the resort and the restaurant. No one was hurt thanks to our timely evacuation action,” he added. It is further learnt that a part of the Kedarnath highway a little ahead of the resort was washed away, resulting in hindrance to vehicular movement.
