The president of the Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) Bobby Panwar has claimed that a big scam is expected in the recruitment interview for Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) in the State. The wife of a cabinet minister is reportedly pressurising the chairman of the Uttarakhand Medical Board to select her close ones, he alleged. Panwar stated this in a Press conference held at the protest site in Ekta Vihar on Sunday. The conference was held as the union completed 150 days of protest against the government seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into recruitment scams in the State. He said that scams in recruitment exams are so rampant in the State that wives and close family members of some cabinet ministers are also reportedly involved in these scams. He said that despite several revelations of scams related to recruitment examinations, many people including ministers continue to use their ways to carry out scams in one way or another for their benefit. He claimed that for polytechnic recruitments, the government has hired an agency which is reportedly involved in the construction business to outsource staff. “Now such agencies will hire teachers and lecturers for students? One should question why this agency was hired. Are ministers investors or stakeholders in that company? The ministers have stooped to this level to benefit from every situation,” said Panwar. He said that the government is talking superficially about taking strict action against irregularities in recruitment examination scams but nothing is being done at the ground level. “Officials were arrested from Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) but no investigation was done to probe the commission. There is also no concrete development in the police recruitment examination scam 2015,” said Panwar. He also accused the chief minister stating that a woman wrote a letter to the CM on the basis of which, he provided her husband a job of Rs 5,400 grade pay. When people raised objections, the CM said he will remove him from his position but he instead was given a one year extension in his job, claimed Panwar. “Is this not against the rules?” he questioned. He also claimed that the government has also appointed a person as director of a department, who does not fulfill any criteria of being in that position but he is there because of his close relationship with the CM. He said that the CM had also promised to involve CBI in a probe into recruitment examination scams but nothing is being done regarding that too. According to Panwar, more scams are expected in the upcoming recruitment examinations too about which the union will reveal information soon as well. “We will continue our protest against the government till they ensure a fair probe into such scams,” added Panwar.
