Heavy rain warning issued for eight districts

Light to moderate rain was witnessed in various parts of the State on Thursday. The State meteorological centre has issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Chamoli and Bageshwar districts on Friday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spells are also likely to occur at isolated places in the State today. Further, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the districts of the State on Friday.
Ther provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to experience partly to generally cloudy sky. One or two spells of light to moderate rain / thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Thursday were 34.6 degrees Celsius and 24.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 34.5 degrees Celsius and 26.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.2 degrees Celsius and 16.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.7 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was 31.5 millimetres rain in Mukteshwar, 18.5 millimetres in Bharsar, 17.5 millimetres in Chamoli, 12.5 millimetres in Jankichatti, nine millimetres in Narendranagar and six millimetres in the Sahastradhara area of Dehradun on Thursday.
