Launching an attack on the BJP government for rise in crime against women in Uttarakhand, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said on Friday that the recent report of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has exposed the claims of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao of the BJP government. He said that as per the NCRB report 872 women were raped in the year 2022 in the State. Interacting with the media persons at the Congress Bhawan on Friday, Mahara said that three rapes are occurring in the State every day. He said that recent incident which a girl was raped in Kalsi when she was going to the school to get her marksheet and rape and murder of a women in Hathibadkala area of Dehradun which is near the residence of Chief Minister and Governor indicate the pathetic condition of law and order in the State. Mahara said that the BJP government is continuing to target the public representatives belonging to the Congress party. In the latest incident, the chairperson of the Purola Nagar Panchayat, Hari Mohan Negi was removed from his position. He claimed that the purported folly of Negi was that he used his personal car and the vehicles of his friends to transport medicines, masks, sanitizers and other things during the pandemic of Covid 19 and claimed fuel reimbursement from the Nagar Panchayat. The Congress leader said that the recent disclosure that the file of the seeds scam is missing from the secretariat from the last two years deflates the rhetoric of zero tolerance on corruption of the BJP government.
