DGP directs stepping up security arrangements ahead of August 15

The director general of police Ashok Kumar held a meeting with all district in-charges and senior police officials via video conferencing regarding safety arrangements in the State on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15. He directed all senior/superintendents of police to stay extra alert and conduct checking campaigns in hotels, bus stations, railway stations and all vulnerable places in districts. He said that all in-charges must take action in hate speech cases as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court. The officials should take suo moto cognisance of such cases and take legal action against them immediately by registering a case. He also directed them to follow

the instructions issued by the central government regarding the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme. All units of the State Police should jointly organise a special march at the district level and take the oath on Independence Day.  Besides this, he said that the Tiranga should be placed in all police stations, outposts and offices under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 13 to August 15 while raising awareness about it among the public. The DGP also directed officials to confiscate illegally acquired property under the Gangster Act against land mafia, drug mafia and those who cheat in the name of job placement, sending abroad and chit fund among others under the Operation Prahar campaign that commenced on August 1.
