The Pauri district police arrested two women members of interstate Sansi gang from Haridwar on Sunday. The two arrested women hail from Raigarh district of Madhya Pradesh.
Kotdwar resident Vipin Negi had lodged an FIR stating that after withdrawing Rs 1.20 lakh from a bank he and his mother went to purchase medicines to find that the money was missing from their bag. The police checked footage from 33 CCTV cameras and activated its network of informants. The police managed to nab Chameli Bai and Meenakhi from Haridwar. A sum of Rs 1,13,000 was recovered from the duo. The accused said that they used to form groups and generally target people in crowded areas like railway stations, bus stations, banks and bathing Ghats to carry out thefts and similar crimes.
