In latest Uttarakhand news, with rain still pounding Uttarakhand with fury, the Sol Valley situated in the higher reaches of Chamoli district and Tharali region in the same district experienced intense spells of thunder shower. Aggravating things further, cloudburst occurred in Brham Tal, Sup Tal and Bhekal Tal and subsequently, the river Pranmati swelled dangerously, sweeping away heavy boulders and uprooted trees with its dreaded currents. The panicked people said that the roar of the gushing river was heard from a distance of five kms. With the level of the river rising precariously, those living in proximity to the river were asked by the administration and police to shift to safer places. Villages like Tharali and Kulsari were among the most impacted by the rain-induced disaster and all the villagers were evacuated. Those who live near the river Pindar spent the night in Gwaldam Tharali Tiraha and Nasir Bazar, away from their homes. As the motor bridge connecting Tharali and Suna and the bailey bridge on swelling Pranmati had been washed away a few days back, the villagers built a temporary bridge. However, the heavy downpour that lashed the region again led to a massive flood in the river and the temporary bridge was swept away. Consequently, about 5000 people living in Tharali and Suna villages were completely cut off again.
