Taking cognisance of the slow pace of construction by the agencies involved in the setting up health centres under National Health Mission (NHM) and other centrally sponsored schemes, the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that the government will take punitive action against them. He warned that the agencies failing to complete work within the stipulated time period will be blacklisted.
The minister gave the warning while chairing a review meeting of the Health department at his residence on Friday.
In the meeting the minister expressed his unhappiness on the delay in the construction works in the government hospitals and sought explanation for the delay. He curtly told the officers that the procrastination will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the officers responsible. The minister said that hundreds of construction works under the NHM, ECRP-I and II are sanctioned which include construction of blood banks, Oxygen plant, PICU, ICU, critical care block, bio medical waste disposal and treatment plants, transit hostels and others. He said that the apathetic working style of the work executing agencies is responsible for delay in the construction works. The minister directed the officers to blacklist the agencies responsible for delay and said that the utilisation certificate (UC) of the completed projects should be sent to the Government of India.
The additional secretary Amandeep Kaur, director general of Health Services Dr Vinita Shah and others attended the meeting.
