In view of the spurt in the cases of dengue in the provisional State capital and problems faced by the patients in getting admission in the hospitals, the Health department has directed all the private hospitals of Dehradun to keep 20 per cent of the beds reserved for dengue patients. The administration also fixed the upper limits of the fees charged for the diagnostic tests of dengue.

The chief medical officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr Sanjay Jain convened a meeting of representatives of all private hospitals and pathology labs on Saturday. In the meeting it was decided that NABL labs will charge not more than Rs 1,100 for the ELISA test for dengue. Similarly the non NABL labs will charge Rs 1,000 for ELISA test. The charge for rapid test of dengue has been fixed at Rs 500 while for combo ( rapid test + IgG+ ImG) has been fixed at Rs 800.

All the hospitals and labs will mandatorily send daily reports about the dengue tests and the treatment to the Integrated Diseases Surveillance Programme (IDSP) of the district. The CMO said that the number of beds in the dengue ward of the district hospital (Coronation) has been increased to 50.
