A delegation of leaders of Uttarakhand Congress led by its vice president Mathura Dutt Joshi met the chief electoral officer (CEO) Uttarakhand on Wednesday and submitted a complaint that the Congress workers are selectively being harassed by the district administration of Bageshwar.
The delegation told the CEO that the cases of violation of model code of conduct (MCC) are being registered only on the Congress workers. The chief spokesperson of the Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni said that Congress workers are being constantly harassed in Bageshwar by the administration. She said that the banners and posters of Congress candidates are being torn and the vehicles of Congress party supporters are being penalised.
The Congress leader said that notices under section 107/116 have been given to the district vice president of Youth Congress Bhim Kumar and Bhuwan Pharswan. Dasauni added that the journalists coming to Bageshwar from outside are not being allowed to cover the by-election. She said that the cases registered on the Congress workers should be taken back.
