International Goodwill Society of India felicitates intellectuals & bureaucrats

Various intellectuals and bureaucrats were felicitated at the third regional meet of the International Goodwill Society of India. Presiding over the function, former Defence secretary and national president of the society, Yogendra Narayan said that during the Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal, one should definitely remember the freedom fighters and those who laid down their lives while defending the nation as freedom was achieved due to their sacrifices. The coming generation needs to be introduced to the valour of such personalities, he said.
The society’s Dehradun chapter head and IAS officer R Meenakshi Sundaram was the chief guest on the occasion while UJVN Limited managing director Sandeep Singhal was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Singhal said that hydro power projects are playing an important role in the development of Uttarakhand. From the economic point of view, the hydro power projects are also an excellent source of revenue for a mountain State like Uttarakhand. He said that UJVNL projects are supplying electricity to the State at a rate of Rs two per unit. The corporation is producing about 5,500 million unit electricity in a year.This is not only generating revenue but also saving the State’s revenue by providing cheap electricity, he added.
ONGC director Sushma Rawat also expressed her views on the occasion. The society felicitated 20 personalities for their contributions in various spheres on the occasion.
