Vidhan Sabha monsoon session to start today

The monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha will commence from Tuesday. The four-day session is likely to be stormy with the opposition Congress deciding to corner the Pushkar Singh Dhami government on various issues. The ministers of the Dhami government and the MLAs of the ruling BJP are also prepared to tackle the attack of the opposition and are expected to defend the actions of the government. On Monday the speaker Ritu Khanduri chaired a meeting of the leaders of the legislature parties. In the meeting discussions on smooth holding of the session was held. The meeting was attended by the Parliamentary Affairs minister Prem Chand Agarwal, the leader of opposition (LoP) in the Assembly Yashpal Arya and the leader of BSP legislature party Mohammad Shajad.
 In the monsoon session the Dhami government will table a supplementary budget of Rs 11,000 crore in the Assembly. The government is expected to table many important bills in the monsoon session which include separate bills for private and government universities of the State and grant of 10 per cent horizontal reservation for the Statehood activists and their dependents. It is also expected that the government might table the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill in the Assembly during the session. The opposition Congress has said that it will expose the government for its failure in handling the recent rain triggered disasters in the State in which considerable loss to life and property occurred in different parts of the State. It will also try to corner the government on the ongoing anti- encroachment drive in the mountainous parts of the State. The issue of unemployment and price rise will also be raised by the opposition members.

On the first day the government will move a condolence motion on the death of cabinet minister Chandan Ram Dass.
