Technology & innovation seminar held at UCOST, Doon

A seminar titled ‘Technologies and Innovation for Climate Adaptive Forests and Livelihoods solutions in Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) with Uttarakhand as an Exemplar’ was organised at Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), Vigyan Dham, Jhajra in Dehradun on Thursday. It was jointly sponsored by UCOST, Agni Mission Team and chief scientific advisor, Government of India. Director general, UCOST, Durgesh Pant who presided over the seminar recounted the efforts being made to develop Champawat district as a model district in collaboration with various linear departments, Central institutions and the office of the chief scientific advisor to the Government of India. The coordinator, Adarsh Champawat, Prahlad Singh Adhikari said that farmers in Champawat district have been informed about the new technology by Agni tea and in future too, new technology will be implemented in Champawat district in association with UCOST. This aside, the action plan firmed up by the Agni Mission team for Champawat district was shared with the participants through a powerpoint presentation. As the special guest, the director of the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Harender Singh Bisht dwelt on the works being done in Champawat district as well as the works to be done in future through the institute. Representatives of various institutions like World Bank, World Organisation for Animal Health, United Nation Development Programme, Forest Survey of India and Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi participated in the seminar virtually.
