A man belonging to Haryana’s Faridabad died after falling into a 100-metre derp gorge in Tehri’s Gular area on Friday. The man, identified as Lal Singh Rana, was reportedly standing near the gorge when his foot slipped and he fell into the gorge, said the officials.
They said that some locals informed the police that a man had fallen into a deep gorge in the Gular area after which the rescue team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot along with rescue equipment under the supervision of chief constable Santosh Rawat. The team analysed the gorge to be 100 metres deep and reached the victim using the ropes. The officials said that the victim was found dead when the team reached him. His body was retrieved from the gorge and was handed over to the police.
The police will hand over the body to the family after completing the required procedures. The official said that it does not appear to be a suicide case as many people claimed that the man’s leg slipped when he was standing quite close to the gorge. However, the police are investigating the matter and will take action if they find any evidence suggesting otherwise, added officials.
