Active cases rise to 257 with 24 new dengue cases on Sunday

860 patients out of 1,130 have recovered so far from vector-borne disease

The number of active dengue cases has increased to 257 with 24 new cases being reported in the State on Sunday. No death from dengue was reported in the State during the day. According to the Health department the cumulative number of dengue cases in the State so far is 1,130 out of which 860 patients have recovered.

According to the figures released by the department on Sunday evening, out of the 24 cases reported in the State, 15 are in Dehradun district, eight in Nainital district and one in Udham Singh Nagar district. Similarly, out of the cumulative cases, Dehradun district has the highest with 655 cases followed by Haridwar district with 191, Nainital with 144, Pauri with 99, Udham Singh Nagar with 24, Chamoli with eight, Rudraprayag with four, Almora with three and Bageshwar with two. No cases of dengue have been reported so far from Tehri, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi districts.Further, all the 13 deaths of dengue patients that have taken place so far have been reported in Dehradun district.

It is pertinent to mention here that though the State government has stepped up its efforts involving the urban local bodies and other departments concerned with special focus on sanitation and awareness, the number of dengue patients has continued to rise consistently in the State, especially in the provisional State capital Dehradun.
