In latest Uttarakhand news, the State sports and youth welfare minister Rekha Arya said that the State government is all set to raise substantially the subsidy on the sports infrastructure development. The subsidy in the mountainous regions would be raised by 70 per cent while it would be raised by 50 per cent in the plain regions of the State, she said and added that these proposals would be placed soon before cabinet meeting. She further said that the sports infrastructure development policy enforced in 2016 will be appropriately simplified so as to enable the youths get better sports opportunities. While recounting the steps the State government has initiated to boost sports talent in the youth, she cited the payment of students’ sports stipend and the daily meal allowances for them being raised from Rs 250 to Rs 480. She also cited free AC bus and third AC train travel facility for those who participate in national sports events.
