In latest news from Uttarakhand, while chairing a review meeting of the Ayushman scheme execution and the dengue outbreak at the conference hall of Srinagar Government Medical College, the State health minister Dhan Singh Rawat instructed the chief medical officer Pauri, the Srinagar Medical College administration officers and the Srinagar municipal corporation officers to make sure that all the entitled people of the district are provided with Ayushman cards. Along with this, he directed the CMO to set a target of declaring as many villages as Ayushman villages and making the district tuberculosis- free. He suggested 54 villages be declared TB free and 325 villages as Ayushman villages on October 2, marking Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. He stressed on the cooperation and coordination among the officers and employees to meet the target.
The health minister, however, sounded annoyed over the district health officials having failed to take steps in advance to check the spread of dengue infection. He also expressed displeasure over the officials from Kotdwar having skipped the meeting. He asked the health officers to work in tandem with the civic body in Srinagar and spread out in the villages to do the fogging and destroy larvae of the dengue-begetting mosquitoes. Simultaneously he stressed on organising awareness campaigns on what is to be done to stay free from the vector-borne disease.
