Spa, casino tourism unwelcome: Harish Rawat

In latest news from Dehradun, commenting on the social media platforms on the investment proposals, particularly involving the tourism sector, received during the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s just-concluded United Kingdom trip, the former chief minister and Congress veteran Harish Rawat said that the people of Uttarakhand are ready to welcome the international tourists with open arms if they come on being inspired by the State’s cultural/spiritual heritage, geographical diversity and biodiversity, handlooms/handicrafts and cuisine. In the same breath, he said, taking a dig at the BJP, that those who would come to the State to gratify sensual pleasures through thronging spa centres and casinos are unwelcome. “This carnal culture runs counter to the vision that fired the Statehood movement and the State’s hoary-old values and heritage,” he wrote
