In latest news from Uttarakhand, five bodies have been recovered from the canal at Asaf Nagar in Gangnahar in two days. Police informed that two of the bodies, including that of a woman, have been identified so far. The bodies have been sent to Roorkee Hospital for autopsy. Haridwar police have contacted Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar police stations for the identification of the still-unidentified bodies. Police further said that they have been investigating these apparently drowning deaths from all possible angles.
Sharing details, the Manglour police station in-charge Mahesh Joshi said that the police team had started the searching operation in Asaf Nagar canal in Gangnahar on the information given by villagers on bodies being found floating in the canal. Two of the bodies have been identified as those of one Vimla Devi (70), resident of Indira Vihar, Roorkee and Mohammad (19), resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. Vimla had been missing since September 27 as per the missing diary filed by her husband while Mohammad had gone missing on September 28. Joshi further said that they have been trying to identify the three other bodies, adding that they appeared to be aged between 35 and 40 years.
