Banks should adopt no pendency work culture in loan disbursal: ACS

The additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan has said that the Banks should adopt the work culture of no pendency in the disbursal of loans. He was addressing the 86th meeting of the State level bankers committee (SLBC) at the State secretariat on Thursday. He said that the Banks should focus on the loan schemes linked to employment generation.
He said that the Banks should dispose of the pending loan applications within the stipulated time frame.
The ACS said that the meetings of the steering subcommittee, permanent committee on rural banking development and establishment development bankers committee should be held regularly.
He said that the Banks should coordinate with the local administration to reduce their NPAs and hold outreach camps in the districts where credit deposit ratio is less. The ACS added that the areas heterto uncovered with the banking services should be covered and the maximum number of account holders should be brought under the social security schemes.
The representatives of the Bank informed that under the annual credit scheme 2023-24, the Banks have disbursed loans of 13494 crore in the first trimester which is 38 per cent more than the target.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, additional secretary rural development Anand Swarup, regional director Reserve Bank of India Lata Vishwanathan, chief general manager NABARD Vinod Kumar Bisht and representatives of the banks were present in the meeting.
