Considering the non-enrollment of students under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, the Education department has initiated the procedure to revoke the affiliation of Sun Valley School. Chief education officer Pradeep Rawat informed that many warnings and notices have been issued by the department to the school regarding the enrollment of students under the RTE Act. However, the school in question has disregarded these warnings and has not admitted the students under the RTE Act, he said.
He further informed that in light of the school’s actions, the department has initiated the process to revoke its affiliation. Additionally, the department will soon conduct inspections of all schools in Dehradun. “During these inspections, we will ensure that no school shows any bias towards the students enrolled under the RTE Act. If any school is found to be biased, the department will take prompt action against it,” Rawat added.
Further, member of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Vinod Kaparwan said that the commission intends to file a petition in the Uttarakhand High Court in the Sun Valley school matter. During the proceedings, the commission will request the court to consider the rights of the parents and students who have endured four months of hardship during the enrollment period under the RTE Act. Additionally, the commission believes that the Education department will soon make a favourable decision in favour of both the parents and students, he added.
