Transport department commences verification drive for school vehicle drivers

The Transport department on Tuesday commenced its verification drive of the school vans and buses along with their drivers in Dehradun’s Parade Ground. The officials of the regional transport office of the Dehradun division conducted verification of a total of 175 vehicles and their drivers. Two sessions of the drive were organised under the supervision of RTO (Administration) Sunil Sharma and RTO (Enforcement) Shailesh Tiwari. Tiwari informed that the documents of most of the vehicles were found to be correct and as per the standards. However, the officials found expired medicines in the first aid boxes of some vehicles and some vehicles did not have any first aid boxes. He said that the vehicle operators were instructed to work on all these issues and get verified again within 15 days. Besides this, Tiwari along with assistant divisional transport officer Rajendra Biratiya also provided counselling to the drivers regarding the safety of children to ensure their safety while following traffic rules and other associated guidelines. Tiwari said that the verification drive will be held on Wednesday and Thursday as well and more vehicle operators are expected to attend the verification.
