Police arrest trio for land fraud in Kotdwar

The Pauri police arrested three accused involved in land fraud in Kotdwar. The trio arrested under operation Prahar used to prepare fake documents of the land and commit fraud by presenting a fake land owner instead of the real owner.
According to police, Kotdwar resident Amit Joshi lodged police complaint on August 15 stating that his decease brother in-law’s land in Durgapuri Motadhang had been sold to Kiran Devi for Rs 23 lakh by accused Anamika Maithani, her associate Kusum alias Kausar Ahmed and Nidhi Bijola. He had alleged that they had made fake documents of the land to sell it. Police stated that in another case the three accused had prepared fake documents of the land belonging to Sunita Devi of Durgapur area in Kotdwar in the name of Anamika Maithani.
The trio committed fraud of Rs 13 lakh by doing the registry using fake documents. Taking cognisance of the seriousness of land fraud cases, Pauri senior superintendent of police Shweta Choubey directed the formation of a team to solve the case and arrest the accused. The police team arrested Kausar, Bhupendra and Gajendra Chaudhary in Kotdwar for their alleged involvement in the land fraud. The arrested accused told the police during questioning that they prepared the fake documents of the land and committed fraud by selling and purchasing land by producing fake landlord in place of the real owner of the land.
