Post-dengue effects have become a cause of concern for the people. Dehradun district hospital senior physician Dr Pravin Panwar said that muscle pain and weakness are common symptoms faced by individuals after recovering from dengue. In addition to this, indigestion is also experienced by individuals. “These post-dengue symptoms are not a cause for major concern as they can be healed within a few weeks or a month. Maintaining a balanced diet, drinking adequate water and eating fruits can aid in the body’s healing process. Further, it is advised that one should avoid taking painkillers for joint pain,” said Dr Panwar. He further said that ORS and consumption of bananas along with multivitamins tablets help people to recover fast from post-dengue weakness.
Physician Dr Siddhant Khanna said, “Muscle pain and impaired digestion are commonly experienced symptoms by individuals after recovering from dengue fever. Digestive issues arise due to the enlargement of the human gall bladder as a result of the illness. It helps to consume a high protein diet to alleviate these post-dengue symptoms while also avoiding foods high in fat. One should also avoid taking painkillers as they can have a detrimental impact on the platelet count. Boosting fruit consumption and increasing water intake are additional measures that aid in a speedy recovery from post-dengue symptoms,”he added.
